Works perfectly!, November 9, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: AmScope 20x 40x 80x Home School Student Dissecting Binocular Stereo Microscope with Incident and Transmitted Dual Light Illumination System I was very hesitant to make this purchase because the price seemed too good. I read some reviews that I found online and decided to go ahead and order. The microscope arrived and I was very pleased to find out that it was everything that was described in the advertising. Easy to use and the clarity of focus was very good. Don't hesitate...buy it.

Fantastic for the kids!, July 3, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: AmScope 20x 40x 80x Home School Student Dissecting Binocular Stereo Microscope with Incident and Transmitted Dual Light Illumination System At my sisters urging (Yes, I'm taking about YOU Dr. Ludwig, PhD.) we purchased this for our kids who are currently in K, 3rd, and 4th grade. It is July now and all the Christmas toys are long forgotten. But nearly every week the kids come running in from the back-yard with a leaf or rock or bug or something to look at under the microscope. We tend to use the lower powers as the eyepiece for the higer powers has a very narrow field of view. But the lower powers still open up a whole world of things that are unseen with the naked eye. While we can't pick out any strucures in a cell, (or even see most cells) we've been able to see the outlines of some plant cells. Having the binocular scope seems to be easier for the kids to see with and it does allow to see things in 3-dimentions under the scope. And despite living in the kids bedroom for 6-months everyting still works and works well. So it seems to be built solidly.
This insturment has sparked scientific curiosity and... Read more

Great Stereoscope for the cost!!!, October 22, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: AmScope 20x 40x 80x Home School Student Dissecting Binocular Stereo Microscope with Incident and Transmitted Dual Light Illumination System This scope provides a clear image from 20x - 80x and provides a very good depth of field. For the price, this scope is certainly worth it.
I was able to purchase this scope while on sale for approximately 138 dollars (which was approximately 80% off its MSRP). At this price it is a STEAL!
The scope arrived well packaged within a styrofoam box and includes guards for the lens and eyepieces as well as a plastic dustcover for the product when not in use.
All in all, I would highly recommend this for investigation of material where 20-80x is helpful.
