Perfect for viewing 0402 SMT electronics! Very very happy!, June 14, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: AmScope 10x-20x-30x-60x Student Binocular Stereo Microscope with Incident (Top) and Transmitted (Bottom) Lights On a tight budget and having to buy things out of pocket for work at a startup. They went to 0402 (sized components) without any prototyping. I looked for about a month for something I could afford. Almost bought used scopes more than once for more $ than this one cost new.
When the shipping rang-up at about $3 I was worried that the unit was actual size in the photo. But when I opened this puppy up... wow! It's a real microscope! Absolutely full size, heavy, and solid. More than that, it is absolutely perfect for what I am doing. One of the options for changing magnification is a quick turn of the large circular, bottom lens carrier to select "1X" or "3X". When you turn it, it clicks in and out of place very smoothly, locks into new position very firmly and has the perfect resistance during the turn. You just know that the people that designed it, and the people that built it nailed this one. I am so impressed, and so happy to be able to write a positive review... Read more

A very nice microscope for the price, May 5, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: AmScope 10x-20x-30x-60x Student Binocular Stereo Microscope with Incident (Top) and Transmitted (Bottom) Lights I bought this to use with my 5 year old and in hope of sparking an interest in science. I didn't want a toy but something well made, good resolution, easy to use, and a bargain. I guess I wanted it all! This microscope is all of what I was looking for. Its very well made, easy to use, has great resolution, and one heck of a bargain. It certainly is Not a toy and should bring years of use. If your are looking for a steal on a quality binocular microscope, don't pass this one up!

Great Microscope, January 19, 2012 This review is from: AmScope 10x-20x-30x-60x Student Binocular Stereo Microscope with Incident (Top) and Transmitted (Bottom) Lights What a great buy. I purchased this microscope to help with diagnosing plant diseases at work, and it has performed without a hitch. It is easy to use, sturdy, and well built.
My only critique is that changing the eyepieces, on the fly, can be difficult if you don't have a small screwdriver on hand.
Other than that, it does exactly what I need it to do.
