This is a brand new, factory sealed, Variscope Series 833 microscope. The Variscope microscope family of optical instruments is made by one of the largest "private label" optical fabricators in the world. Most stereo microscopes require the microscope objective (head) to be positioned around 75mm-110mm (2.9 -- 4.3 inches) from the specimen. This can make it difficult to observe very large or particularly odd shaped objects. This microscope is an ultra-high working distance microscope that uses to slide-in objective lenses to provide 230mm -- 250mm of working distance. That means you can observe specimens from nearly 10 inches away, which is ideal for irregular objects. Included with this microscope are two slide-in objective lenses, 0.5x and 1.0x made from ground optical glass. Used in conjunction with the included wide field 10x and 20x stereo eyepieces, you can achieve magnifications of 5x, 10x and 20x right out of the box. The main microscope head sits at a comfortable 45 degree incline. The eyepieces sit in a gemel type assembly, allowing for maximum flexibility in adjusting the interpupillary distance. The left eyepiece holder includes an independently controlled diopter focusing adjustment, and molded rubber eyecups are provided for your comfort. The focusing knob is on both the right and left side of the scope allowing for easy adjustment with either the right or left hand. In addition, the microscope has a flex-hinge at the mid point of the boom arm, allowing it to be tilted at any angle. This microscope comes with a built-in 10w incandescent light that can be independently aimed. This microscope includes a full-sized plastic dust cover to keep your microscope in clean dust-free condition.
